In this episode, Caleb, Connor, and Hannah have our first Hodgepodgecast! A new little series of episodes that will probably appear when we are at a lack for concrete episode ideas, Hodgepodgecasts include lots of talking about anything and everything related to Christianity and/or art. This week we end up discussing various deep theological topics, such as hell, faith, the path of salvation, and (answering a listener question) speaking in tongues.
This week we review the hip-hop/alternative artist NF and two of his songs: Mansion and Therapy Session. We dig into the lyrics and the music and talk about what we like and don't like. But I'm sure y'all know the drill. Enjoy!
This week we answer a listener question on characters in fiction, go on dozens of tangents, and lament on our lack of pithiness. Oh, and our favorite Hannah Laatsch is back on the podcast! We reference a few things in this podcast, some of which I have already forgotten by the writing of these liner notes, but I totally remembered to put the link to the personality type website, so you can find it here.
For our 50th episode extravaganza, we review the new Captain America film (or Avengers 3, you might say) and talk about what it did right and what it did wrong. Yeah, there's not a whole lot on the "did wrong" side. Enjoy the episode!
This week the Powers brothers talk about the art we've been consuming lately. Connor's been watching the anime Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, and so we end up discussing the differences between that show and its predecessor (alternate reality counterpart?), simply Fullmetal Alchemist. Caleb's almost finished with the second Percy Jackson series, Heroes of Olympus, so we also talk about some of the things both series of books did right and wrong. Along the way we talk about how to structure a story, how to avoid bloat in your story, and when to kill the thing you love most in the story you've written.
